OLIVE FOUDAM DESIGN

Foudam Danie

Olive Foudam Design was created in 2019 by a young Cameroonian designer named Foudam Danie. With over 7 years' experience, Olive Foudam Design's mission is to enhance and promote ancestral values and know-how in the field of clothing and accessories. That's why we design and manufacture our products according to a methodological process using local materials (NDOP from the Bamiléké people, TCHEYAH from the Noun, TORGOH from the North-West, OBOM from the East and LEPPI from the Far North) with panache. With a young, competent staff, we offer products of outstanding quality. Over the past two years, we've established relations with an international clientele, enabling us to export our products outside the western region and the country.

We came into contact with the L'ART DE L'INCLUSION project thanks to a customer who wondered why we weren't located in a high-standard workshop, given our skills. Faced with this situation, we asked her about our equipment and strategy for developing our business and raising our profile. She advised us to contact the Bafoussam youth center, as there are programs that fund and offer training to young artists. We approached the person in charge of the project, and they gave us the prospectus. We used this document, which we had seen on the project page. A few days later, the competition was launched on the L'ART DE L'INCLUSION page, we applied and two weeks later we were selected.

ABOUT

Fashion has always been a passion of mine since I was very young. I began my studies in the first year of IH, at Anuarite Catholic College at the age of 12, where I obtained my IH cap and my Brevet professionnel (BP) in floue couture in 2012. I joined the Foumban Institute of Fine Arts in 2015, and after 5 years I graduated with a bachelor's degree and a professional master's in fashion design and textile art. At the same time, I did professional internships with designers like DONATELLA, D'denis and many others. But I specialized in artistic fashion at Foumban art room (FAR), from where I took part in several clothing exhibitions in museums and fashion-week shows, but on behalf of the association. And it wasn't until 2018 that I took it upon myself to present my own collection “FU SAA”, which means “rainy season” in the Yemba language (Fomopea). The aim was to offer the Cameroonian population clothing to protect them from the cold, while connecting them with their culture and tradition. This was a great success and gave me the courage to officially launch Olive Foudam Design in 2019.
